Text size and grid size
Two settings, one rule: the letters of the grid must stay readable.
Text size
Text size, on the home screen and in Settings, has four sizes: Normal, Large, Larger and Largest. Each one is shown at its own size. It applies at once, to the whole app and to the letters of the grid.
It adds to the font size of your phone, up to twice the normal size in all.
Grid size
Three grids: 8×8 — 10 words, 12×12 — 15 words and 15×15 — 20 words. The 12×12 is chosen at first. The size applies to the next grid you start.
When the letters are large
At a large text size, a big grid does not fit with readable squares. Scrutix then serves a smaller grid, and a note under the sizes names the grid you will get. Your choice is kept, and comes back when you lower the text size.
A grid already in progress keeps its size. If you raise the text size during a grid, its squares may be small; the next grid will be smaller and easier to read.
Landscape
Turn the phone sideways and the grid takes the full height of the screen, with the words to its right.
